What Is Hyperbaric Air Therapy?

Hyperbaric Air Therapy (HBAT) involves relaxing on a comfortable recliner inside a pressurized, air-conditioned chamber while breathing ambient air. The maximum pressure is 1.2 to 1.3 atmospheres which is roughly the same pressure change as going up in a commercial airplane and coming back down or swimming at a depth of about 10 feet below the surface.

The increased pressure causes the red blood cells AND the water part of the blood to carry oxygen to the tissues. This means that the mitochondria (the powerhouses of the cells) have all of the oxygen they could ever want. This results in maximal cellular energy production of ATP-the energy that runs all of our cells. This has been shown to turn on thousands of repair genes throughout the body.

Better health, Vitality, and Energy

HBAT is one of the ‘Pillar Therapies’ of RenewMD clinic which are synergistic in bringing better health, vitality and energy.

HBAT should not be confused with Hyperbaric OXYGEN Therapy which has inherent risks due to much higher pressures and the enriched oxygen environment.

HBAT is not an acute therapy but a recovery therapy. If you think you MAY be having a heart attack or stroke, call 911 immediately!!

If you have had a stroke or heart attack, Hyperbaric Air Therapy and other therapies offered at RenewMD clinic are tremendously helpful follow-up therapies to get you healthier, stronger, and back to doing what you want to do.

How HBAT at RenewMD Works

What To Expect with HBAT

You’ll be guided into the chamber and helped into a comfortable position.

Once sealed, the chamber will slowly pressurize — you may feel a slight popping in your ears, similar to being on a plane.

The experience is comfortable and relaxing.

Once the session ends, pressure is gradually released, and you exit feeling refreshed and calm.

Many clients recline in the chair and take a nap, others read a book.
